Title
Torchlight Procession Leaflet including political cartoon
Subject
A leaflet urging attendance at a torchlight procession on August 3rd, 1936 which was organised by the Women's Committee of the Victorian Council Against War and Fascism.
Description
A torchlight procession was organised for Monday, 3rd of August 1936 by the Women's Committee of the Victorian Council Against War and Fascism. This leaflet encourages women in the community to attend the procession in order to put pressure on government bodies to re-allocate funds for the preparation of war to support women and children who were malnourished, in need of medical care, or otherwise disadvantaged. It is indicative of a number of wider social concerns and problems which fed into and were informed by the war effort and public opinion towards it. It is also indicative of the social presence and activities of the Women's Committee at this time.
